In this essay the academic writer is defined, and the challenges and difficulties faced in their arduous work of writing in the university are shown. It is highlighted how for a difficult task of academic writing, with its demanding particularities, they are not usually provided with adequate and sustained training, and many of them are often frustrated with the poor results obtained after their great efforts and they are frequently moved to abandon. Finally, it is presented in a brief way how the Anglo-Saxon universities have sought to solve this critical situation that has a negative impact on the performance of university students while the Ibero-American academies (with some honorable exceptions) do not undertake effective solutions with decisiveness and forcefulness.
