La metáfora es un recurso lingüístico que ayuda a interpretar el mundo, al asignarle significados a conceptos según el contexto en que se emplee. Los dominicanos nos valemos de este recurso y utilizamos expresiones metafóricas en la vida cotidiana como una forma de explicar la realidad; estas expresiones “populares” reflejan formas de pensamiento complejo, además de la existencia humana desde una metáfora. Este ensayo pretende sustentar la relación entre las metáforas y la lingüística cognitiva, para luego presentar la forma peculiar de hablar de los dominicanos e intentar esquematizar las metáforas utilizadas por categorías. En las conclusiones se apreciará la forma de hablar de un pueblo desde la utilización de la metáfora como forma predominante de expresión en su discurso oral. El corpus metafórico que se pretende construir en el ensayo es puramente dominicano y se ven representados los recursos lingüísticos empleados en cada metáfora que utilizamos los hablantes del español dominicano.
The metaphor is a linguistic resource that helps interpret the world, from assigning meanings to concepts according to the context in which it is used. Dominicans use this resource and use metaphorical expressions in everyday life as a way of explaining reality, these “popular” expressions reflect complex thought forms, as well as human existence from a metaphor. This essay aims to support the relationship between metaphors and cognitive linguistics, and then review the peculiar way of speaking of Dominicans and try to outline the metaphors used by categories. In the conclusions we will see the way of speaking of a country from the use of metaphors as a predominant form of expression in their oral discourse. The metaphorical corpus that is intended to be built in the essay is purely Dominican, and the linguistic resources used in each metaphor used by speakers of Dominican Spanish are represented.
