La Zona Metropolitana del Sur de Tamaulipas tiene características particulares para el estudio de la contaminación atmosférica: en su extremo sureste está instalada una refinería; al norte se encuentran un corredor industrial petroquímico, una termoeléctrica y el puerto industrial de Altamira; al oeste se encuentra una empresa minera y un amplio sistema lagunario; y al este, el Golfo de México. Ante la falta de una red de monitoreo de la calidad del aire, en este trabajo se presenta la Red Ciudadana de Monitoreo de la Calidad del Aire en la Zona Metropolitana Altamira-Tampico-Cd. Madero que tiene instaladas estaciones meteorológicas en varias ubicaciones de la ciudad generando datos de viento, precipitación, temperatura y humedad, que permitirán generar un patrón local de vientos para la simulación de la dispersión de la contaminación. Los datos están siendo recopilados en una base de datos y están accesibles al público a través de la página web de la Red. La página permite la interacción con la ciudadanía para incluir sus estaciones meteorológicas, subir fotografías georreferenciadas de fuentes de emisión, compartir rutas para la estimación de emisiones, participar en encuestas de percepción de calidad del aire y estar informados sobre los resultados del análisis de datos.
The Metropolitan Area of Southern Tamaulipas has characteristics for the study of air pollution: at its Southeastern end there is a refinery; at the Northern side there is a petrochemical industrial corridor, a thermoelectric plant and the industrial port of Altamira; at the Western side there is a mining company and a large lagoon system; and at the Eastern side, the Gulf of Mexico. In the absence of an air quality monitoring network, this paper presents the Citizen Air Quality Monitoring Network in the Altamira-Tampico-Cd. Madero Metropolitan Area which has installed meteorological stations in several locations in the city generating wind, precipitation, temperature, and humidity data, which will generate a local wind pattern for the simulation of the dispersion of pollution. The data are being compiled into a database and are accessible to the public through the Network's website. The page allows interaction with citizens to include their weather stations, upload georeferenced photographs of emission sources, share routes for emissions estimation, participate in air quality perception surveys and be informed about the results of data analysis.
