Este artículo presenta reflexiones, desde planteamientos teóricos actuales, sobre la importancia de la educación emocional en tres aspectos principales: la prevención primaria de la violencia escolar, el fomento de la convivencia y la mejora de la calidad de la educación. Se concluye en la necesidad de que la educación emocional sea un componente clave en el desarrollo profesional docente.
This article introduces reflections, from current theoretical approaches, about the importance of emotional education in three main areas: the primary prevention of school violence, to foster a positive school climate and the improvement of the quality of education. The author concludes that the emotional education should be a key component in the professional development of teachers.
