Introducción:
El consumo de drogas durante la pandemia ha tenido un impacto significativo en la salud mental de la población mundial, especialmente entre los jóvenes.
Objetivo:
se pretende describir la prevalencia del consumo de drogas antes de la pandemia, la frecuencia de consumo y los lugares y circunstancias asociados al consumo entre los estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Educación Física de diversas universidades públicas de la región Caribe colombiana, durante la pandemia del virus SARS CoV-2.
Metodología:
Se llevó a cabo un estudio descriptivo-transversal con estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Educación Física de diferentes universidades de la región Caribe colombiana en el año 2021. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 678 estudiantes. Se utilizó el cuestionario “Percepción Social e Imaginarios Culturales de las Drogas en Población Universitaria” (SIDEC) para recopilar los datos.
Resultados:
Antes de la pandemia, se observó la disponibilidad de drogas legales e ilegales en los entornos universitarios. Durante la pandemia, se observó un aumento en el consumo de alcohol y marihuana, y los estudiantes optaron por actividades extraescolares como el ocio inactivo, el uso de tecnologías y actividad física, las cuales fueron las actividades preferidas.
Conclusiones:
Los hallazgos resaltan la necesidad de implementar campañas de prevención y promoción de la salud mental, especialmente en vista de las situaciones que representan un riesgo para la salud mental de los estudiantes.
Introduction: Drug consumption during the pandemic has had a significant impact on the mental health of the global population, especially among young people. Objective: The aim is to describe the prevalence of drug use before the pandemic, the frequency of use, and the places and circumstances associated with drug use among students majoring in Physical Education from various public universities in the Colombian Caribbean region during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with students majoring in Physical Education from different universities in the Colombian Caribbean region in 2021. The sample consisted of 678 students. The Social Perception and Cultural Imaginaries of Drugs in University Population” (SIDEC) questionnaire was used to collect data. Results: Before the pandemic, the availability of legal and illegal drugs was observed in university environments. During the pandemic, there was an increase in the consumption of alcohol and marijuana, and students opted for extracurricular activities such as inactive leisure, the use of technology, and physical activity, which were the preferred activities. Conclusions: The findings highlight the need to implement campaigns for the prevention and promotion of mental health, especially in view of situations that pose a risk to the mental health of students.
